![]() ![]() Our young men truly have the potential to conquer some amazing - maybe even crazy - adventures God has in store for them. You don’t see very many of them these days rising against the norm of video-gaming and actually doing hard things. What does that say about our country?Īlso, you see in this generation how our young men aren’t getting up off the couch to work. Did you know that one out of every three women will be abused at some point in her life? And that about 4,000 women die each year due to domestic violence? On average, more than three women are murdered by their husbands or partners in this country every day. Knights and princes protected women in those days … not hurt them. How many times do we see in our culture the exact opposite of this? True manhood does not compromise a woman’s purity, but heroically protects it. Men are supposed to kick back and watch as women take charge of the world. Hilary Clinton promises to further women’s rights. And I’m not saying mankind was perfect then (certainly not!). Or even when I look at relationships where either the man is mistreating his girl, or the girl won’t let her guy be a man.ĭon’t you see something wrong with this picture? How far society has strayed from the knights and ladies of old? Even simple etiquette is not as valued today as it once was. It always makes me sad when I’m out grocery shopping and I don’t see men opening doors for women anymore, or helping them carry the groceries. ![]() You know, the ones where the valiant knight saves the princess? The ones where chivalry and honor are boldly demonstrated and called for? Those ones. To never turn the back upon a foe, meaning to always be aware of your enemies.I love those old fairy tales. ![]() To never refuse a challenge from an equal meaning to never back down unless the fight is unfair. To respect the honour of women meaning to respect and honour women. To persevere to the end in any enterprise begun meaning to never give up on anything you begin. To keep faith meaning not to stray from hope or religion.Īt all times speak the truth meaning to never lie. To eschew unfairness, meanness and deceit meaning to have nothing to do with those things. ![]() To guard the honour of fellow knights meaning to stand up for other knights as well as yourself. To obey those placed in authority meaning to do what you’re told. To fight for the welfare of all meaning to stand up for everyone, not just the more important. To despise pecuniary reward meaning not to expect rewards and turn down money rewards. To live by honour and for glory meaning to be honourable and do it for glory. To refrain from the wanton giving of offence to have a purpose. To give succour to widows and orphans meaning to help and comfort them. To protect the weak and defenceless meaning to stand up for the helpless. To serve the liege lord in valour and faith meaning to be faithful to the Lord of the manor. To fear God and maintain his church which means to attend church and be a good catholic. The code of chivalry is something all knights had to follow, the code said: You had to be honourable, brave and chivalrous. Only the bravest and most honourable knights could join the Kings round table. ![]()
